The goal of MFV is to produce marine fish species, as European sea bass, Gilthead seabream, Russian sturgeon and Yellowtail kingfish. In four independent production lines up to 1.000 tons of fish can be produced per year.

The MFV is embedded in a comprehensive material and energy recycling. In the first step, sludge is used in a neighboring biogas plant. The waste heat, formed during the biogas conversion into electricity, is used to heat up the fish farm.
A research and development farm is already in operation. It is used together with the College of Technology and Economy of the Saarland (HTW). The already initiated research projects are embedded in a comprehensive national and international network of excellence.
